History of the Beach House Inn

The Beach House was built by pioneers about 1839. The point of land around the house was cleared and cultivated by the Simms, a family of farmers who worked the land for a little over 100 years. The Presbyterian church purchased the property in a tax sale in 1946 and ran it as a bible camp for children for the next 40 years.

The Church was bequeathed another piece of property at Canoe Cove, 20 minutes from Charlottetown, and so Camp Keir, as The Beach House was formerly known moved closer to town. Brenda bought the Beach House in 1986 as a summer cottage. It developed into a Bed & Breakfast Inn and an Independent school providing a variety of college & university workshops through the spring and fall.
